The Mission: Witnesses
Dear Redeeming Grace,
Organizations often have a mission statement. If you've been around Redeeming Grace even a short time, you've likely heard ours - We exist to exalt, enjoy and extend the grace of God in Christ.
Last week Dave reminded us of the mission Jesus gave to his disciples and to us. While his followers were preoccupied with kingdom restoration, Jesus packed into a word, their role in the advancing kingdom of God. Witnesses.
He said the promised Holy Spirit would come and empower them to be witnesses. As Dave unpacked this word, we saw that simply means to tell people about the glory, goodness and grace of Jesus.
And that mission hasn't changed for us here in Franklin and beyond in the year 2022. When we state that we are called to extend the grace of God in Christ, a significant part is Spirit-empowered witness to the person of Jesus and the message of the gospel. What a privilege and joy that we can participate in the very mission Jesus gave his first disciples to witness to who he is and the salvation that is by grace, through faith in him alone.
This week, let's remember the mission we've been given and know that as we witness to his glory, grace and goodness, the Holy Spirit is empowering us for the continued advance of God's kingdom.
