Dear Redeeming Grace,

I wonder if your thoughts have turned to heaven a little more this week in light of the message from Colossians to seek and set our minds on the things above. Often times in our fast paced world, we miss out on the gift of just sitting and thinking about heaven.

I'm often challenged by the Psalmists when I read of their desire for the presence of the LORD. They thirst for the living God. Their soul longed for the courts of the LORD. His nearness was their good.

To be sure, we have a foretaste and a guarantee in the Holy Spirit. We have Christ in us, the hope of glory. But this world isn't our home. Heaven is the place where Jesus is. And the more we think on that, I believe we'll grow in our longing for our true home because we long to be with God.

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." (John 14:3 ESV)
