Growing in Christian Influence

Dear Redeeming Grace,

In Jason's message on Christian influence we saw how our lives can leave an impact on others, even stirring their desire to know Jesus more. By Paul's example we saw how life can be consecrated to God, compassionate toward others, courageous for the advance of the gospel and confident in God's promises.

Each of these areas could be explored for a lifetime and are worthy of meditating on. And each area is a place where we can stir one another up. I wonder, as you considered these categories, which one(s) stirred your heart the most?

Below are some verses for each category you may want to meditate on or even commit to memory. Prayerfully consider how God wants to strengthen you this week as you shine his light in the world, attracting people to the source of the hope you have.

Consecrated to God
Psalm 100:3 - Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Compassionate toward others
Luke 10:36-37 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”

Courageous for the advance of the gospel
Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Confident in God's promises
2 Corinthians 1:19-20 - For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes. For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
