Scripture-Shaped Minds

Dear Redeeming Grace,

For our second month of scripture memory, we are focusing on a verse that points to the beauty of enjoying God's grace together. As we learn and meditate on Hebrews 10:24-25, God is shaping the way we think. I love how author David Matthis in his book "Habits of Grace" helps us see scripture memory as an application of the prayer "Give us this day our daily bread" (Matt. 6:11). He writes this:

"When we learn the Scriptures by heart, we’re not just memorizing ancient, enduringly relevant texts, but we’re listening to and learning the voice of our Creator and Redeemer himself. When we memorize lines from the Bible, we are shaping our minds in the moment to mimic the structure and mind-set of the mind of God." - David Matthis

We pray that our memorization of this particular verse will fuel us to lean into stirring each other up in love and good works; give us zeal as we meet together; increase our desire to encourage one another; and keep our eyes fixed on the reality of Christ's return.

There is much of God's grace to enjoy, and what a gift to enjoy it together.
