Trust Leads to Joy

Dear Redeeming Grace,

We hope this week you've experienced God's grace in ways that reminded you of what we looked at this past Sunday; the reality that God is sovereignly in control of our lives, provides for all we need and is faithful to every promise. Because these things are true we have reason to build our lives on him with joy!

But what is it about all of these things that would lead us to joy? I think the common theme is that our trust in God frees us from worry and control. Realizing God knows what is best for us, will provide for every true need, and never break his promise should give us great peace and rest. And from there, we can celebrate who God is and joyfully go about following him with our lives.

I love how the end of Psalm 33 captures these connected themes of trust and joy. Here's what it says:

Our soul waits for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
even as we hope in you. (Psalm 33:20-22 ESV)

May the Lord give us glad hearts as we trust his character and steadfast love.
